Section: I Can’t Believe I Forgot To Mention This
Dreamwidth is a social networking site based on the Livejournal model. In case you’re not familiar with either, the idea is sort of like collecting a ton of blogs on a single site and then link them to each other. You can read all your friends’ recent blog entries on a “friends” or “reading” page. It has long since been perverted for uses beyond blogging, such as posting fiction or cat macros. It’s the social-networking, user-friendly – though site-contained – option to blogging.
The way Dreamwidth seeks to improve on the Livejournal model is by being run more on the original open source ideals. For one, Dreamwidth has no ads, ever. They also have better cross-posting functionality (so you can select to have your post appear on other services as well after you write it on Dreamwidth). The downside is that the free account creation is by invitation code only. And this is why I’m linking now.
For this month only, if you are a participant in NaNoWriMo (not that they check), you can create a new account using the invite code NNWM09. Whoo! They further recommend the community NaNo Writers.
DW Codesharing is also giving out free codes – donated by those members who have received them in the past.

I had to get to it, didn’t I?
Shortpacked - People who work in toy stores and, on occasion, collect toys, or possibly try to take over the world.
Something Positive – is actually quite negative. If you like mean people doing mean things to stupid people… This might not be the best sale that comic’s ever had. But I keep on enjoying it, and find it quite funny and relevant. Do you trust me?
Rosalarian.com hosts two on-going comics and one one-shot by the same author, Megan Rose Gedris: Yu+Me, I Was Kidnapped By Lesbian Pirates From Outer Space and Le Jardin. The first is a long-running lesbian high school drama cum surreal fantasy adventure, and is a lot better than it sounds like. The art starts out squiffy but promising (because of its inventiveness and charm), and ends up fully living up to that promise. The second is just what it says, and the third a one-shot gothic horror story.
Dinosaur Comics – You probably knew this one already. Didn’t everyone? This comic makes a strong argument for story in the age-old “story vs art in comic books” discussion.

Section: Just Admit It
They say the Internet is a place where you can find validation for just about any opinion. (Here‘s Wondermark’s take on that principle.) That’s both a good thing and a bad thing. Let’s focus on the positive, because that’s just the sort of sparkly girly feelgood kinda blog this is.
MLP Arena
Really loved your My Little Ponies as a child? Feel guilty over that special nostalgic thrill you get when you see a chubby old pony toy – just like they used to make them back when they were still good? MLP Arena will not cure you of your suppressed love for sparkly ponies; in fact, it will make it worse. It will help get rid of the guilt, though.
