Section: Art
Ursula Vernon paints small furry animals, orcs and phalloi, among other things, all by hand, and all infused with a crazy yet adorable whimsy. You can find her blog here and she also has a gallery on DeviantArt.
Rafa Maya makes steampunk items and sculptures. Incredible stuff.
Speaking of which, Datamancer creates computer items in steampunk style. My favourite is still the Victorian desktop PC.
Steffi Schütze/Miss Matzenbatzen creates gorgeous faux retro cartoon pin-ups.
Bullsik‘s art is more like harsh kitch…? I would be able to describe it better if I knew the first thing about art, I bet. It’s way neat, though.

Section: Toys
On PatchTogether.com, you can submit a toy design, and if it gets enough votes, they’ll make it. Holy shit that is so cool.
-
Section: For Aspiring Writers
Carina Press is open to submissions. They strike me as a healthy alternative to Harlequin.

Section: Media Meta
TV Tropes catalogues cliches, especially in TV and genre fiction. Hilarious and enlightening – but be warned, you will end up link-browsing for a lot longer than you intended to.
Henry Jenkins has made geekery his life’s study. Read his blog here: The Confessions of an Aca-Fan.
